The Internet has made it possible to communicate with patients in new ways. The anonymity offered by the web makes discussion of embarassing topics possible where they were not before. Fifty percent of men keep their vasectomy a secret, possibly due to fear of being judged as "less than a man". I believe that men with post-vasectomy pain have always been out there, but were silent due to similar embarassment. It is simply not acceptable to talk about pain in the testicles or scrotum in almost any context outside of a doctor's office. Now, the Internet is replete with the anonymous stories of men with chronic pain or sexual side effects after vasectomy.
You can read questions from men with different types of problems after vasectomy at many websites, blogsites, and online support groups.
My online support group is available by clicking here. You have to join the group to participate, but you can use an anonymous screen name. The files section of the group has many medical articles on PVP for patients and physicians.
An exciting new treatment option for men with PVPS is available at the University of Florida. The facility is a dedicated testicular pain clinic and Dr. Sijo Parekattil has pioneered a less invasive form of neurolysis using the DaVinci Robot. His procedure has produced impressive results in the 170 cases to date as of May 2010, with a 90% response rate. He is quite accessible and speaks with patients directly via his website: www.RoboticInfertility.com.
A medical website (medhelp.org) with questions from men after vasectomy, some of which are about post-vasectomy pain is available by clicking here.

If you have read this site, and the linked articles and still have questions about post-vasectomy pain, you can email me directly at thetaorunner@yahoo.com. I am not an urologist, but am an M.D. and have become a relative expert on this topic via my online support group for men with post-vasectomy pain. I have also written several articles on pain after vasectomy and my most recent clinical review has been submitted to the British Journal of Medicine. After it is published, I will link it here. Despite my interest in this topic, use of this site does not constitute a physician patient relationship. The information provided is here to be used as a resource for you to discuss with your physician. I am not an urologist and cannot advise you beyond the general information and links to further information provided here. The decision to pursue vasectomy or specific treatments for vasectomy related pain should be thoroughly reviewed with your treating physician.
